God Make Us Your Family

The family of God is bound together by the life and sacrifice of his Son Jesus. The bond is stronger than bonds of blood-kinship, marriage, gender, age, culture, race or nationality. As members of God’s family, as his own sons and daughters, we follow the example of our brother Jesus. By sharing together the life of worship and caring, we become instruments of God’s Spirit who brings wholeness and reconciliation to us and our world. All who follow the leading of God’s Spirit are God’s own sons and daughters. They have been adopted into the very family circle of God and can say with a full heart, “Father, my Father.” For God chose them to bear the family likeness of his Son, that he might be the eldest of a family of many brothers and sisters. He chose them and made them righteous in his sight, then lifted them to the splendor of life as his own children. Selections from Romans 8:10, 14, 15, 29.
